Being Frugal

December 24th, 2011 at 06:02 pm

I am pretty frugal by nature.

-I prefer to shop in discount stores like Marshalls or Ross, because of the selection. I don't like shopping for clothes, and I've had some clothes for a very long time. A lot of the clothes I wear were gifts.

-I like red wine, my favorite is Italian. I usually buy it at Trader Joes - my favorite is a Montepulciano D'Abruzzo for $3.99 a bottle.

-I don't eat out that often. I have a lot of food intolerance and allergies so I don't eat a lot of food I can't control. If I do grab food its a 6" cheese sub from SUBWAY. And I drink water. (I can't have High Fructose Corn Syrup or I have a severe reaction, so I can't eat processed foods). I do go to a local restaurant and see a friend play live music, it costs $30-$70 depending if I bring company.

-I tend to use what I have, and fix things.

I love Subway cheese subs. My son is allergic to shellfish, so I understand how hard it is to eat out with allergies. Welcome aboard! What part of the country are you in? Merry Christmas!

I'm in Southern California. Thanks for the welcome and Merry Christmas to you too. I'm having a really low-key holiday this year, my family is all in Canada. So I"m more in organize mode than holiday!

Organizing is good. I wish my house was organized...back spasms and sciatic pain prevent cleaning for long periods. We had Christmas yesterday since my son had to work his security job. I asked noone to get me gifts...I wanted them to take the money and save it...and that was what they did, so although I received no gifts, the gift of knowing that all of my family/friends will have some extra $$ tucked away makes me feel warm and cozy. My friend, at church, just got back from California. He said that they didn't want to come back to Kentucky. I have producer friends in Canana- Toronto, as well as some Amish Living friends.
